She is an experienced association professional, having worked for agricultural, utility, and cooperative associations before coming to MSDC in 2012. She is proud of her Danish heritage and active in her community, serving as an elections officer in Arlington County and in multiple leadership roles at Toastmasters, a public speaking organization where she has led communications workshops. Rose Smith

Controller

Rose Smith grew up in a small suburb of Pittsburgh, PA.   She continues to be an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Penguins and Steelers.   Rose worked in the accounting office of the local telephone company before moving to DC in 1976 when she married her husband, a middle school teacher in Brandywine, MD.  She has two children, a daughter and son.  Working part-time will give her time to spend with her grandson, read, and pursue volunteer opportunities in her community and church.  And “maybe” join the gym for that needed exercise class.
