Committee on Health Hearing November 15, 2021 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM
Councilmember Vincent C. Gray, Chairperson of the Committee on Health, announces a Public Hearing on Bill 24-0171, the “Medically Necessary Foods Coverage Act of 2021”, Bill 24-0207, the “HIV/AIDS Data Privacy Protection Amendment Act of 2021”, Bill 24-0231, the “Minor Access to Medical Records and Appointments Amendment Act of 2021”, Bill 24-0242, the “Beautician and Barber Behavioral Health Support Training Act of 2021”, and Bill 24-0305, the “Professional Employer Organization Registration Act of 2021.” The hearing will be held on Monday, November 15, 2021, at 10:00 a.m., via Webex.
Bill 24-0171, the “Medically Necessary Foods Coverage Act of 2021”, would require health insurance policies to include coverage for medically necessary foods ordered by a provider for a disease or condition.
Bill 24-0207, the “HIV/AIDS Data Privacy Protection Amendment Act of 2021”, would limit who may authorize the release of information obtained, collected, or produced by the Department of Health. It would also prevent identifying information from being obtained through discovery, or admitted as evidence, in a criminal or civil case in the District of Columbia courts.
Bill 24-0231, the “Minor Access to Medical Records and Appointments Amendment Act of2021”, would allow youth who are 16 years of age and older to schedule medical appointments and request medical records without parental consent.
Bill 24-0242, the “Beautician and Barber Behavioral Health Support Training Act of 2021”, would provide for the creation and governance of a program to provide beauticians and barbers with behavioral health support training for the benefit of their clientele.
Bill 24-0305, the “Professional Employer Organization Registration Act of 2021”, would require professional employer organizations that offer health insurance in the District to register with the Department of Insurance, Securities, and Banking. It also authorizes the Mayor to collect registration fees, impose fines, and suspend and revoke certificates of registration.
