"PEP" Talk: MSDC Board Approves Creation of New Practice Benefit April 18, 2023
Written by MSDC staff
On April 18, the MSDC Board of Directors voted to create a "pooled employer plan", "support" four DC Council bills, and set the date and time for the 2023 annual meeting.
This was in addition to receiving a strategic planning update and new member model update.
All of this took place at the Board's second meeting of 2023, which is shaping up to be a major year for the Society as it updates its business plans.
After a presentation by MSDC Treasurer Dr. Raymond Tu, the Board voted to approve the creation of a PEP 401k plan with Asset Strategy Consultants (ASC). ASC, a Barron's Top 100 Institutional Consulting Firm, has managed MSDC's financial reserves for over twenty years. The PEP 401k plan offers physician practices and healthcare facilities top-notch retirement plan options for employees with the cost savings that come from a larger participant pool, in this case numerous practice participants. More details will be available prior to the plan's launch in August 2023.
The Board also voted to set the date and location of the MSDC annual meeting for October 27, 2023 at the AAMC conference space in downtown DC. The annual meeting returns to its location from 2019, which saw the largest attendance for an annual meeting in recent memory. At that meeting, Dr. Bathgate will give a "state of the Society speech" and Dr. Ashesh Patel will be inaugurated President.
In addition, the meeting included:
- the Board approving a "support" position for the following bills: the HIV In-Home Test Tax Exemption Act; the Expanding Access to Fertility Treatment Act; the LOVE Act; and the Cost-Free Coverage for Prostate Screening Amendment Act.
- a draft new membership model from the Membership Committee that is scheduled for a vote at the June meeting.
- an update from Global Navigators on the strategic planning process.
- and more.
The next MSDC Board meeting will be June 26, 2023.
