COVID Vaccines and Variants

Add to:

Hear from Dr. Hana Akselrod the science behind the COVID vaccines and variants, and walk away with good information to share with your patients.

Your patients are reading and hearing about the COVID variants. Currently “Delta” is dominating the headlines, but the medical community is already identifying the next group of variants. Are you able to explain what the variants are and what your patients need to know?

This program will give a scientific explanation on how the variants evolve and how to expect new variants will continue to evolve. It will also give practical language explaining what District residents need to know about the variants and how they impact the COVID vaccines (based on the most current information).

Our presenter is Dr. Hana Akselrod. Dr. Akselrod is currently Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Infectious Diseases at the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences. Prior to joining the GW Medical Faculty Associates she trained in internal medicine in Portland, Maine. At GW, she has been active in medical education, serving as a faculty mentor in the Quality Improvement and the Clinical Public Health curriculum programs. She conducts research on HIV and aging as part of the DC Center for AIDS Research (CFAR) and DC Cohort Longitudinal HIV study.
