Next Step: Residency – Residency Overview

Hosted by MSDC’s Early Career Physicians Section

Part one of a three-part series

July 11, 7:30 PM (Other dates TBD)

Applying for residency is a critical, time-consuming part of your medical career that spans months and adds stress to an already draining course load. However, it is also an opportunity to showcase all that you have accomplished in medical school and help you reach the next step in your career: placement in your preferred residency program and future success in your medical career.

In this three-part online series, you will learn from physician leaders how to successfully navigate the residency application process and reach your goals. The series will start with an overview of the residency application process, then focus on the personal statement, and finally help you navigate the interview stage. The series is open to all medical students at any point in training.

Part 1: Residency Overview
Get a complete overview of the residency application and interview process with inside perspective on what program directors want to see. The session will discuss preparing your optimal residency application package, selecting specialties and programs, and the ins-and-outs of interviews.  Plus learn what to do about potential red flags and how the pandemic has impacted the process.
