DC Expands List of Providers Who Can Give COVID Vaccine
The order paves the way for more vaccines to be administered and for closer tracking.
In a new administrative order on Thursday, DC Health issued new guidance expected to ease the distribution of the COVID vaccine.
The new order notes that the reasoning is to ensure timely reporting of vaccine distribution and that it is available as widely as possible the District. The order has four changes:
- Unlicensed individuals (including medical assistants or health technicians) may administer the COVID vaccine if the person meets four different criteria.
- Each dose of COVID vaccine given must be reported by the facility or provider within 24 hours in DOCIIS.
- A facility is responsible for monitoring and reporting vaccine administration to DC Health by their providers.
- An approved vaccination site is exempt from "mass gathering" restrictions.
