Tamika Auguste, MD, FACOG
Dr. Auguste is a passionate and vocal advocate for women and infants and an innovative medical educator. She is being honored with the Dr. Charles H. Epps, III Community Service Award for outstanding public service to the community on May 14, 2021. Public service and commitment to medicine and the community has been a lifelong calling for her.
Born in Brooklyn, NY, she gained a strong work ethic from her parents who emigrated from Trinidad. Medicine is truly a calling. She says "I was that child who always wanted to be a doctor." That calling fuels her practice, public service, and leadership.
Her leadership and expertise is extensive; she serves as Chair of MedStar Washington Hospital Center's OB/GYN Clinical Practice Council, Interim Chair of the Women's and Infants' Services at MedStar Washington Hospital Center, Associate Medical Director for the MedStar Simulation Training & Education Lab (SiTEL), and as a past Chair of the DC Section of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. She is a recognized leader and women's health expert who advocates powerfully and tirelessy on behalf of patients at every opportunity. Whether it is on Capitol Hill, before the DC Council, at medical conferences, in the community, or on multiple digital platforms, her service is non-stop. As a lover of learning she has multiple publications on patient safety, simulation, and medical education and gives back to the profession through mentoring medical trainees.
