MSDC is saddened to hear of the loss of Dr. Bette Strudwick and inspired by the numerous celebrations of her life and career. A true Washingtonian, Dr. Strudwick was a pediatrician to generations of Washington residents and helped heal our neighbors and colleagues. Her work in medicine paved the way for women physicians after her. She was one of seven women in her medical class at Howard University but many more have come after her because of her example. Her worked helped further integrate DC medicine. For the Medical Society, Dr. Strudwick was a long-time leader. She was a Board member and long-time advocacy volunteer.
MSDC mourns the loss of a DC medical luminary, role model, friend, and colleague. We rejoice in knowing her legacy lives on in her patients and the physicians she mentored.
