The two MedStar DC hospitals were the top two ranked DC hospitals in the newest U.S. News report.

MedStar Washington Hospital Center also received a national rating for its cardiology, heart, and vascular surgery center. Besides Inova Fairfax, MWHC was the only regional hospital to receive a national designation for a specialty. In July, MSDC member Dr. Steven Abramowitz became the first surgeon in the world to use the RevCore thrombectomy catheter, the first deep venous stent cleaner, on ten patients suffering from symptoms of venous stent failure.

The top six hospitals for the greater Washington area were:

3. MedStar Georgetown University Hospital
4. Virginia Hospital Center
5. George Washington University Hospital
6. Johns Hopkins Medicine-Sibley Memorial Hospital
